Speaking opportunities such as the one with the Dallas North Rotary, unexpectedly, become a moment to take a pause. We can plan and prepare for our 20 minutes of all about me, me, me, but sometimes we get more than we could possibly deliver through the observed graciousness and generosity of our hosts.
It was an engagement that undoubtedly warmed my heart, rivaling the grandest moments of becoming a published author.
And yes we talked about what inspired me, my process of frothing about fictional characters, and my trials and tribulations of getting published (there goes that me, me again). But it was during the Rotary business meeting that I heard about all the things these people do in and around our local and worldwide communities with regards to humanitarian issues, literacy initiatives & public health concerns. Selflessly delivered, they had me humbly dragging my tail to the podium.
Thank you Dallas North Rotary. And to all reading this – http://rotary.org/en/Pages/ridefault.aspx
